“We must unreservedly condemn the physical assault on Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu.
It was primitive, shameful and criminal. We demand the arrest and prosecution of all those who assaulted Osotsi and those who hired them,” Miguna said.
The remarks come amid growing concern over the safety of political leaders and the rising cases of violence linked to political tensions.
The attack on Osotsi has sparked widespread condemnation from leaders and members of the public, many of whom have called for accountability and justice.
Miguna emphasised that the incident should not be treated lightly, warning that failure to act firmly could embolden similar acts in the future.
He argued that holding both the attackers and their alleged sponsors accountable is critical in deterring political violence and upholding the integrity of the country’s democratic processes.
The lawyer further noted that the rule of law must be applied consistently, regardless of the individuals involved.
He urged investigative agencies to carry out thorough and impartial inquiries to ensure that justice is served.
The incident has also reignited debate over political tolerance and the need for leaders to promote peaceful engagement, particularly during periods of heightened political activity.
Observers say such attacks risk undermining public confidence in institutions tasked with maintaining law and order.
As calls for justice continue to mount, attention is now turning to law enforcement agencies and their response to the incident.
Leaders across the political divide have urged the police to act swiftly, noting that timely investigations and prosecutions are essential in restoring public trust.
