Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Thursday joined members of the Jubilee Party Student Caucus during the Council of Jubilee Student Leaders Convention held at the party headquarters in Nairobi.

The meeting brought together student leaders affiliated with the Jubilee Party from different institutions across the country, with discussions focusing on youth leadership, political participation and the future of the party.

Dr. Matiang’i’s appearance at the gathering attracted attention from attendees and political observers, coming at a time when his name continues to feature prominently in conversations surrounding the country’s political landscape.

During the convention, student leaders engaged in discussions on governance, youth empowerment, national unity and the role of young people in shaping the country’s political direction.

Participants also deliberated on the challenges facing university and college students, including access to opportunities, leadership representation and economic concerns affecting young Kenyans.

Matiang’i addressed the students and encouraged them to remain actively involved in national affairs, emphasizing the importance of discipline, education and responsible leadership in building the country’s future.

He also urged young leaders to remain focused on issues affecting citizens and to contribute positively to public discourse through constructive engagement and policy-driven conversations.

The convention served as a platform for the student caucus to reaffirm its role within the Jubilee Party and discuss strategies aimed at strengthening youth participation in the party’s activities.

Several student leaders welcomed Matiang’i’s presence, describing the engagement as an important opportunity to interact with experienced national leaders and exchange ideas on governance and leadership.

The former CS has maintained a relatively low public profile since leaving government, although his recent appearances at political and public events have continued to attract national attention.

Political analysts have increasingly pointed to growing interest surrounding Matiang’i’s political future, particularly among sections of the opposition and youth groups across the country.

However, Thursday’s meeting largely focused on youth engagement, leadership development and the need for young people to take an active role in democratic processes.

Jubilee Party officials present at the convention reiterated the party’s commitment to involving young people in decision-making structures and creating platforms for emerging leaders.
