Edwin Sifuna has called on national leadership to ensure that development projects are carried out within the boundaries of the law.

Speaking in a firm but calm tone, the senator emphasized that progress and respect for the constitution should always move together.

According to him, Kenyans want to see development in their country, but they also expect leaders to follow the rules that guide governance.

Sifuna stressed that the law is not an obstacle to development. Instead, he described it as a guide that ensures fairness, accountability, and proper use of public resources.

He explained that leadership involves making decisions that benefit citizens while still respecting legal frameworks.

In his view, it is possible for leaders to deliver services and improve infrastructure without ignoring constitutional requirements.

He pointed out that every leader takes an oath of office when assuming power. This oath, he explained, is a promise to serve the people honestly and to protect the constitution.

Sifuna reminded leaders that remaining faithful to this oath builds public trust and strengthens democracy.

He warned that ignoring legal procedures in the name of development can create long-term problems for the country.

According to Sifuna, development projects should not be rushed or carried out without following proper procedures.

He noted that when projects ignore legal guidelines, they often face disputes, delays, or even cancellation.

Such situations, he said, waste public funds and deny citizens the benefits they were promised. He encouraged leaders to prioritize transparency and consultation when planning major projects.

The senator also highlighted the importance of public participation. He explained that citizens have the right to be involved in decisions that affect their communities.

Allowing people to share their opinions and concerns helps leaders design projects that truly address public needs.

Sifuna believes that when citizens feel included, they are more likely to support government programs and development plans.

Sifuna further explained that the constitution was created to protect both citizens and leaders.

He said it provides clear guidance on how power should be exercised and how resources should be managed.

Following the constitution, he noted, helps prevent misuse of authority and ensures equal treatment for all regions and communities.

He acknowledged that Kenyans are eager to see improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job creation.

However, he insisted that such progress must not come at the expense of the rule of law.

According to him, development that ignores legal procedures may appear successful in the short term but can lead to conflict, mistrust, and corruption in the future.

Sifuna also encouraged leaders to view accountability as a strength rather than a weakness.

He explained that leaders who operate openly and respect the law earn greater respect from citizens.

He added that strong institutions and clear legal processes help create stable leadership and sustainable development.
