Her appointment has sparked debate in political circles and on social media, with some people linking it to politics rather than merit.
Junet dismissed such claims, arguing that Ida Odinga has a long record of public service and should not be judged based on political affiliations or family ties.
He said she has consistently stepped forward to serve the country when called upon and has demonstrated commitment to national development over the years.
The MP urged Kenyans to stop turning every high-level appointment into a political contest.
According to him, national service should be respected, and individuals selected for key positions should be given the opportunity to perform their duties without unnecessary hostility.
He further stated that it is unfair to question someone’s capability simply because of their background or associations. In his view, public offices should not become battlegrounds for political rivalry.
Junet’s remarks drew mixed reactions in and outside Parliament. Some lawmakers agreed with him, saying that once a candidate has gone through the required vetting process and received approval from the relevant committee, they deserve support.
Others maintained that citizens have a right to express opinions about public appointments.
