Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court has once again postponed the plea-taking of Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga after being informed that he is unwell.

This marks the third time the case has been delayed due to health concerns raised by his legal team.

Abala Wanga was expected to appear before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on Friday, February 6, 2026, to respond to charges linked to allegations that he forged a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.

However, the court was told that he could not attend the session because he had fallen ill and was undergoing medical treatment.

The matter was mentioned before Senior Principal Magistrate Celesa Asis Okore.

During the court session, Wanga’s lawyers requested that the plea-taking be postponed again to allow their client time to recover and personally attend the proceedings.

They explained to the court that his absence was not intentional but caused by serious health challenges.

According to the legal team, Wanga was scheduled to undergo a medical procedure on the same morning the court session was taking place.

They informed the magistrate that they had communicated with him shortly before the hearing and learned that he was preparing to be taken to the operating theatre.

“Your honour, for that reason we will be praying for another mention date with the hope that he will have recovered and be able to attend court,” Wanga’s lawyers told the court while requesting for more time.

The lawyers further explained that the timing of the medical procedure made it difficult to determine when their client would be strong enough to appear in court.

They stressed that Wanga remains willing to respond to the charges once he fully recovers.

“Your honour, I have just spoken to him, and he has told me he’s going to the theatre now, this morning; that makes me not sure when he will be able to come to court,” the legal team added.

The prosecution did not strongly oppose the request, allowing the court to consider the circumstances surrounding Wanga’s health condition.

Magistrate Okore later agreed to defer the plea-taking and directed that a new mention date be set to allow updates on Wanga’s medical condition and availability.
