His statement, which loosely translates to offering ten salutes, set a friendly and relaxed mood as he continued with his comments.
The county official then jokingly suggested that the opening of Talanta Stadium should involve a high-profile football match featuring both local and international teams.
He proposed that popular Kenyan football club Shabana FC should face English Premier League giants Arsenal in the opening match.
“Na wakifungua Talanta Stadium, Shabana wacheze na Arsenali,” Mosiria said, sparking excitement and amusement among the audience.
His suggestion highlighted the growing dream among local football fans to see Kenyan teams compete against well-known global clubs.
Mosiria did not stop there. He continued to propose more eye-catching matches that could attract attention to the new stadium and promote Kenyan football on the international stage.
He suggested that another English club, Manchester United, could play against one of Kenya’s most popular teams, Gor Mahia.
He also mentioned the possibility of FC Leopards facing the Uganda national team in another exciting fixture.
“Hapo Man U wachaze na Gor, halafu FC Leopards wacheze na Uganda kwa sababu… ama vipi?” he joked, maintaining a lively atmosphere during the event.
His remarks appeared to celebrate the stadium as a major development that could place Kenya on the global sports map.
Apart from his humorous suggestions, Mosiria also addressed individuals who had previously questioned whether the Talanta Stadium project was real or achievable.
He assured the public that the project is progressing as planned and that its development can already be seen.
“Wale hawaamini kama Thomas, nataka kuwaambia, President Ruto ile video alitusetia ni ukweli, nime confirm,” Mosiria said, emphasising that the stadium construction is genuine and ongoing.
His remarks were meant to respond to critics who doubted the project when it was first announced.
Talanta Stadium is one of the major sports infrastructure projects being developed by the government as part of efforts to improve sporting facilities in the country.
The stadium is expected to host both local and international sporting events once completed, providing opportunities for Kenyan athletes and boosting sports tourism.
President Ruto’s visit to the stadium site was meant to assess the progress of construction and encourage faster completion of the project.
During the tour, leaders present praised the development, saying it will help nurture young talent and improve the country’s ability to host major sports competitions.
