Trans Nzoia youth leader Vincent Mukabwa has called on young people across the country to actively register as voters, warning that political slogans alone cannot bring leadership change.

Mukabwa stated that the popular “one term” slogan being used in political discussions is not enough to remove President William Ruto from office unless young people take part in the voting process.

Speaking during a youth engagement meeting, Mukabwa urged young Kenyans to understand the power of their vote.

He said many young people often express strong opinions about national leadership on social media and public forums but fail to participate fully in elections.

According to him, real political change can only happen through voting, not through chants or online debates.

Mukabwa explained that Kenya has a large youth population that can influence the country’s political direction if they register and vote in large numbers.

He warned that failing to participate in elections allows others to make decisions on behalf of young people.

He encouraged the youth to take responsibility for shaping the future they want by taking part in democratic processes.

The youth leader emphasized that elections are decided by the number of votes cast, not by public excitement or political slogans.

He said slogans may attract attention and create political awareness, but they do not have legal power to change leadership.

Mukabwa noted that the only way citizens can elect or remove leaders is by participating in the electoral process through voter registration and voting during elections.

He also challenged young people to move beyond political emotions and focus on understanding policies and leadership qualities.

Mukabwa said that youth should carefully evaluate leaders based on their development plans, integrity, and commitment to improving the country.

He added that informed voting helps strengthen democracy and promotes accountability among leaders.

Mukabwa further encouraged young people to educate their peers about the importance of registering as voters.

He said youth leaders, community groups, and student organisations should play a role in creating awareness about voter registration.

According to him, many young people miss registration opportunities due to lack of information or interest, which reduces their influence in national decisions.

He also highlighted the importance of peaceful participation in politics. Mukabwa urged young people to avoid violence or political confrontation, stressing that democracy grows stronger when citizens engage through lawful and peaceful means.

He encouraged the youth to respect different political opinions while remaining focused on their right to vote.
