Edwin Sifuna on Saturday led the Linda Mwananchi team into Kakamega town, where they were welcomed by a massive crowd ahead of their highly anticipated rally.

The visit turned the town into a sea of supporters, many of whom lined the streets hours before the leaders arrived.

Sifuna’s convoy snaked its way through the busy streets of Kakamega as it headed towards  Amalemba Grounds, the venue set for the rally.

The long line of vehicles moved slowly as excited residents followed on foot and motorcycles, chanting slogans and waving party colours.

Traders paused their work, and passersby stopped to catch a glimpse of the leaders.

The Nairobi Senator was not alone. He was accompanied by several key figures from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Nyamira Senator Richard Onyonka, and Kakamega senatorial aspirant Brian Lishenga.

Their presence added weight to the rally and drew even more attention from residents.

Leaders from other political parties also joined the procession, among them Bumula MP Jack Wamboka and Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga.

The mix of leaders signaled a show of unity across different political formations, at least for the day’s event.

The atmosphere in Kakamega was lively and charged with excitement. At several points along the route, Sifuna and Babu Owino stood atop their vehicles to greet supporters.

They waved, raised their hands in acknowledgment, and occasionally addressed the crowd using handheld microphones.

The sight of the two leaders standing above the convoy energized the supporters even more.

Music played loudly from speakers mounted on some of the vehicles. The popular “Jeshi la Baba” song echoed through the streets, and supporters sang along word for word.

The song’s familiar rhythm sent many into celebration mode, with some dancing by the roadside as the caravan passed.

As the convoy approached Amalemba Grounds, it became clear that the rally would draw a significant turnout.

The grounds were already filling up, with groups arriving from different parts of Kakamega County.

Some carried banners, while others chanted in unison, expressing support for the Linda Mwananchi team.
