What began as a lively political gathering quickly turned tense after police officers attempted to disperse crowds attending the Linda Mwananchi rally.

The incident, which unfolded in full view of hundreds of supporters, caused panic and confusion before the situation shifted dramatically.

According to witnesses at the scene, the rally had drawn a large number of people who gathered early in the day.

Leaders were addressing the crowd, music was playing, and supporters were chanting slogans in support of their preferred candidates. The mood was energetic but peaceful.

However, things changed when police officers moved in and reportedly fired teargas canisters toward the gathering.

The sudden release of smoke sent people running in different directions as they tried to avoid the choking fumes.

Some supporters covered their faces with handkerchiefs and pieces of cloth, while others scrambled for safer ground.

Instead of dispersing completely, sections of the crowd regrouped. Angered by what they saw as an unnecessary disruption, some supporters began throwing stones in the direction of the officers.

Within minutes, the confrontation escalated, forcing the police to retreat from the immediate area.

Videos shared by those present showed clouds of teargas hanging in the air as people shouted and waved their hands.

In the background, some could be heard urging others to remain calm, while a few encouraged resistance.

The situation remained unstable for a short period before calm slowly returned.

Organizers of the rally condemned the attempted disruption, arguing that the event had been peaceful before the intervention.

They questioned why force was used instead of dialogue. According to some leaders, they had informed the relevant authorities about the gathering in advance.

On the other hand, security officials have not yet given a full explanation about what led to the use of teargas.

It remains unclear whether there were concerns about crowd control or other security issues that prompted the action.

Political rallies in the country have occasionally experienced similar clashes, especially when tensions are high.

Large gatherings often attract heavy police presence, with officers tasked with maintaining order and preventing possible unrest.

However, when confrontations occur, they can quickly escalate and create dangerous situations for both civilians and security personnel.

Despite the disruption, the rally eventually resumed after the officers pulled back.

Supporters returned to the grounds, determined to continue with the event.

Some described the incident as an attempt to intimidate them, while others said it only strengthened their resolve.
