Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has called on members and leaders of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to urgently focus on unity as the party prepares for the 2027 General Election.

Speaking amid rising internal disagreements within the party, the senator warned that ongoing divisions could weaken ODM’s ability to negotiate and remain politically strong in the coming years.

According to Ledama, ODM has played a key role in shaping Kenya’s political landscape for many years.

However, he cautioned that internal fights, mistrust, and leadership wrangles risk damaging the party’s influence if they are not addressed early.

He stressed that political parties can only succeed when their members stand together and work towards a common goal.

The senator argued that ODM must not walk into the 2027 elections while divided, saying that unity is the only way the party can protect its negotiating power and remain competitive.

He noted that when a party appears weak or disorganized, it becomes difficult for it to bargain effectively in coalitions or influence national political decisions.

To solve the current challenges, Ledama proposed a structured dialogue among party members.

He said leaders from all levels, including national officials, grassroots organizers, and ordinary supporters, should be allowed to openly discuss their concerns.

He believes that open conversations can help clear misunderstandings and rebuild trust among members who may feel sidelined or frustrated.

The Narok senator also emphasized the importance of grassroots reconciliation. He explained that ODM’s strength has always come from its strong support base across the country.

If local supporters feel ignored or divided, the party risks losing the strong foundation that has kept it relevant over the years.

He urged party officials to return to the grassroots level, listen to supporters, and resolve disputes in a peaceful and respectful way.

In addition, Ledama called for the party to organize a decisive National Delegates Convention.

He described the convention as an important platform where leaders and members can come together to make key decisions about the party’s future.

According to him, such a meeting would help ODM develop a clear and united strategy for the 2027 elections.

He added that the convention should be transparent, inclusive, and focused on strengthening party structures.

Ledama warned that failure to address internal divisions could lead to serious consequences.

He said that political history has shown that parties often lose public trust when they fail to manage internal conflicts.

He urged ODM members to avoid personal interests and instead focus on protecting the party’s legacy and future.
