However, Osotsi claimed that the expected consultations took a different direction.
He alleged that instead of engaging internal party leadership, a group of leaders reportedly visited State House for discussions with President William Ruto.
The senator said this move raised concerns among some ODM members, including himself.
Osotsi explained that party matters should first be handled through internal consultation and agreement among party officials.
He said ODM has established structures meant to ensure that decisions reflect the views of members from different levels of leadership.
According to him, bypassing these structures weakens internal democracy and creates confusion among party supporters.
The senator revealed that he and another party leader decided not to attend the NEC meeting in Mombasa because they felt uncomfortable with how the consultations were handled.
He said their absence was not meant to disrespect the party but rather to express concern about the decision-making process.
Osotsi emphasised that strong political parties must follow clear procedures when handling important matters.
He also warned that failure to involve all key stakeholders in decision-making can create divisions within political parties.
According to him, unity within ODM has always been one of its greatest strengths, and any actions that appear to sideline certain leaders could threaten that unity.
He stressed that party leaders must prioritise dialogue and collective decision-making to avoid internal conflicts.
Osotsi further stated that ODM has built its reputation over the years as a party that values democracy and open discussion.
He said party members expect leaders to consult widely before making decisions that affect the party’s direction.
The senator insisted that respecting internal structures helps maintain trust between leaders and supporters.
The Vihiga senator also addressed the broader political environment, noting that political cooperation and dialogue are important for national stability.
However, he maintained that any discussions involving other political leaders or government officials should be done openly and with the knowledge of party members.
He said transparency is important to prevent misunderstandings and protect party unity.
Despite his concerns, Osotsi said he remains committed to ODM and its leadership.
He expressed hope that the party will address internal disagreements through honest conversations and respect for its guiding principles.
He urged party leaders to remain focused on strengthening the party and maintaining the trust of its supporters.
