Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has officially welcomed Hon Kanini Kega to his political party, the Democracy for citizens Party (DCP), describing it as a home for leaders with progressive ideas and future ambitions.

Gachagua made the announcement through his social media account X, sending a clear message about the party’s vision and its growing influence in Kenya’s political scene.

In his post, Gachagua wrote, and then implements its plans in a coordinated manner.

In her view, this approach has helped UDA remain strong and visible in the national political space.

Odhiambo said that one of the most noticeable strengths of the party is its ability to shape public perception.

She argued that UDA leaders have managed to influence how certain political issues are understood by the public by creating narratives that support their goals.

According to her, once the party builds public attention around a certain issue, it then moves quickly to achieve the desired political outcome.

The lawmaker suggested that other political parties appear to be struggling to keep up with UDA’s level of organisation.

She said some parties seem to react to events instead of planning ahead, which puts them at a disadvantage.

Odhiambo noted that while UDA appears to move with a clear direction, other parties are often left responding to developments after they have already taken place.

She also expressed concern that some political groups have chosen to remain silent or supportive from the sidelines instead of building their own strong strategies.

According to Odhiambo, such an approach could weaken their ability to compete effectively in future political contests.

She encouraged political parties to invest more in planning, coordination, and communication with their supporters.

Odhiambo emphasized that strong political competition is important for democracy.

She explained that when parties are well organised and active, they create a healthy environment where leaders are held accountable and citizens are given different choices.

She warned that if opposition parties fail to strengthen their structures, the country could experience weaker political competition.

The MP also highlighted the importance of learning from political rivals.

She said parties should not fear studying how their competitors operate, as this can help them improve their own strategies.

According to Odhiambo, politics is not only about popularity but also about preparation, teamwork, and clear communication with the public.
