Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has spoken out strongly following the ongoing dispute surrounding his property, claiming that those pursuing the debt against him are not interested in repayment but are instead focused on taking over his valuable land.

Tuju made the remarks while addressing journalists shortly after dramatic events unfolded at his Dari Business Park premises.

The property has been at the centre of a long-running legal battle involving an alleged bank loan.

According to Tuju, he has the financial ability and willingness to clear the outstanding debt but believes that the lenders have different intentions.

He claimed the people pursuing the case are more interested in gaining control of the land than receiving payment.

“They don’t want to be paid. They are after my prime property,” Tuju said firmly while explaining his position on the dispute.

The former Cabinet Secretary insisted that he has repeatedly expressed his readiness to settle the debt through proper arrangements.

However, he claimed the process has become complicated due to what he believes are attempts to take possession of the land instead.

Tuju described the property in Karen as highly valuable and strategically located, which he believes may have made it attractive to those involved in the case.

Because of this, he suspects that the financial dispute has turned into a battle over ownership of the land rather than a simple debt recovery process.

The politician and businessman said the situation has been both emotionally and financially draining.

He explained that the dispute has taken several years and involved numerous court appearances and legal arguments.

Despite the tension surrounding the matter, Tuju said he remains committed to resolving the issue through the legal system.

He expressed confidence that the courts will eventually examine the facts carefully and reach a fair conclusion.

The former government official also urged financial institutions and lenders to act in good faith when dealing with borrowers who are willing to repay their loans.

According to him, disputes of this nature should focus on finding solutions rather than escalating into confrontations.

Observers who have been following the case say it highlights the challenges that can arise when large financial loans are tied to valuable assets such as land or commercial buildings.

In such situations, disagreements can emerge over how debts should be repaid and how collateral is handled.

Tuju, who has had a long career in politics and business, said he believes the matter will ultimately be resolved once all the legal procedures are completed.

He added that he and his legal team will continue presenting their arguments in court to defend his rights and property.

The dispute has attracted significant public attention because of Tuju’s profile as a former senior government official.

Many Kenyans have been closely following the developments and expressing different views about the situation.
