Herman Manyora has been released on a Sh2 million personal bond in the ongoing Nairobi Hospital takeover case.

The court ruling follows his denial of claims that he obtained Sh516,000 from a bidder connected to the hospital’s disputed management process.

The case is set for mention on April 13, when Manyora is expected to respond to queries from the prosecution regarding the 2024/2025 financial matters under investigation.

The court emphasized that he must attend all sessions personally and comply with bond conditions, or risk facing more severe legal consequences.

Following his release, Manyora spoke about the ongoing developments, saying, “Not so far, I will share the full story of the Nairobi Hospital.

In the meantime, I know that there are plans to assassinate my character. We are now in the political silly season.”

Manyora has consistently denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he did not receive any money from bidders involved in the hospital’s management.

His lawyers argued that there is no credible evidence linking him to the alleged transaction of Sh516,000, and that the claims were part of a wider attempt to discredit him during politically sensitive times.

The Nairobi Hospital takeover case has drawn significant public attention because of the prominence of the institution and the financial stakes involved.

The hospital, one of Kenya’s leading private health facilities, has been embroiled in disputes over its governance, attracting scrutiny from shareholders, staff, and regulators.

Prosecutors previously argued that the money in question was allegedly received from a bidder and should be investigated to determine whether any legal violations occurred.

The defense, however, maintained that the evidence presented was insufficient and that Manyora had not committed any criminal act.

Legal experts say the court’s decision to grant Manyora bail on personal bond aligns with the principle that suspects should not be held in custody unnecessarily.

They note that the court considered the seriousness of the allegations against the available evidence and determined that release under bond was appropriate.

Manyora’s remarks about his reputation highlight concerns over public perception and the role of political commentary in high-profile cases.

Observers note that in politically charged periods, individuals involved in legal disputes often face reputational attacks that can overshadow the facts of a case.

As the April 13 court date approaches, both the prosecution and defense are expected to update the court on any new developments.

Manyora has pledged to cooperate fully with the legal process and provide documentation to support his position.
