“ODM Ni Nyumba Yetu, Mimi Natoka Hapa Nikienda Wapi?” Winnie Odinga Speaks Out

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Winnie Odinga has declared that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party remains her political home, saying she has no intention of leaving the party that her father helped build.

Speaking passionately during a party gathering, Winnie said ODM is more than just a political organisation to her. 

She described it as a home that carries the history and struggles of many people who fought for democracy and political reforms in the country.

“ODM ni nyumba yetu. Hii ni nyumba ambayo baba yangu alijenga. Mimi, Winnie Odinga, natoka hapa nikienda wapi?” she said.

Her remarks, delivered partly in Swahili, were met with applause from party supporters who attended the meeting.

The statement reflected her strong emotional connection to the party and her determination to remain part of its future.

Winnie Odinga is the daughter of veteran opposition leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who has been one of the most influential figures in Kenyan politics for decades.

Raila played a major role in the formation and growth of the ODM party, turning it into one of the country’s most powerful political movements.

By referring to ODM as a house built by her father, Winnie was acknowledging the long political journey that shaped the party.

She said the sacrifices made by many leaders and supporters over the years should not be forgotten.

She added that young leaders like herself have a responsibility to protect that legacy and ensure the party remains strong.
