Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has dismissed his removal by the party’s Special Delegates Convention, insisting he will continue serving as the “Deputy Party Leader of the People” under the Linda Mwananchi faction.

Osotsi made the declaration on Sunday, March 29, 2026, during a Linda Mwananchi rally held at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa County.

Addressing supporters, he described the decision to remove him from his position as illegitimate and lacking any legal or moral basis.

The senator criticised the faction behind the move, arguing that it did not have the authority to strip him of his role.

He maintained that the process used to remove him was flawed and driven by political interests that do not reflect the will of the party’s grassroots supporters.

Despite contesting the decision, Osotsi said he was no longer interested in holding the official title within the party structure.

Instead, he declared that he would continue serving in a leadership capacity aligned with the Linda Mwananchi movement, which he said represents the true voice of the people.

“Ile kundi linaitwa Linda Ruto walisema wameninyang’anya kazi ya Deputy Party Leader wa ODM. Ninawambia wakwende; kuanzia leo mimi nitakuwa Deputy Party Leader wa Linda Mwananchi!” Osotsi said.

His remarks were met with cheers from supporters who attended the rally, many of whom expressed their backing for the Linda Mwananchi faction.

The gathering formed part of a broader mobilisation campaign aimed at strengthening the faction’s presence across the country.

Osotsi’s declaration highlights the deepening divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), as rival factions continue to clash over leadership and direction.

The emergence of parallel structures and competing claims to authority has raised concerns about the unity and stability of the party.

The senator reiterated that his focus would remain on advancing the interests of ordinary Kenyans through the Linda Mwananchi platform.

He said the movement seeks to champion accountability, inclusivity and better governance, positioning itself as a voice for citizens who feel sidelined by mainstream political processes.

He also called on his supporters to remain steadfast and not be distracted by internal disputes.

According to him, the ongoing wrangles should not derail efforts to address the challenges facing wananchi at the grassroots level.
