William Ruto has donated Ksh5 million to support learners at Kapsabet School for the Deaf following a tragic incident in which several students fell into a septic tank while trying to watch the President’s motorcade pass near the school.

The donation was announced shortly after the accident that shocked residents and leaders in Nandi County.

The funds are expected to assist the school and the affected families as they deal with the consequences of the incident.

The tragedy happened when a group of learners gathered within the school compound to catch a glimpse of the President’s convoy as it passed along a nearby road.

President Ruto was on his way to visit Kapsabet Girls' High School for an official function at the time.

According to early reports, several students climbed onto the top of a large septic tank located within the school grounds in order to get a better view of the motorcade.

The tank, which had a concrete cover, could not withstand the weight of the learners standing on it.

Moments later, the structure suddenly collapsed, causing the students to fall inside the septic tank.

The shocking incident triggered panic in the school compound as teachers, other learners, and nearby residents rushed to the scene to help.

Community members living near the school were among the first to respond.

They quickly organized rescue efforts and worked together to pull some of the trapped learners from the tank before emergency responders arrived.

Police officers and medical teams later reached the scene and joined the rescue operation.

Several of the affected students were rescued and rushed to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital where they received urgent medical treatment.

The accident left the school community shaken, with parents and residents gathering at the hospital and school grounds seeking updates about the condition of the learners.

The incident has also raised concerns about safety measures in schools and the condition of structures within learning institutions.

In response to the tragedy, President Ruto expressed sympathy to the families affected by the incident and pledged financial assistance to support the school during this difficult time.

The Ksh5 million donation is expected to help with recovery efforts and improve safety within the school compound.

Leaders in the region welcomed the President’s support, saying it would help the school manage the immediate needs that have arisen following the accident.

Some of the funds may also be used to improve infrastructure and ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.

Education officials have also indicated that investigations will be carried out to determine the exact cause of the septic tank collapse.

Authorities want to establish whether the structure was properly constructed and maintained and whether safety precautions had been put in place.
