President William Ruto has assured Kenyan Muslims that their participation in government is a right guaranteed by the Constitution and should never be viewed as a favour from any leader.

Speaking during an Iftar gathering with Muslim leaders and government officials, the President said every Kenyan citizen deserves equal opportunity to serve the nation regardless of religion or background.

He emphasized that Muslims who hold public offices are doing so because they are qualified and because the Constitution allows all citizens to take part in national leadership.

Ruto told the gathering that the government recognizes the important role the Muslim community plays in building the country.

He said their involvement in public service reflects the country’s commitment to fairness, inclusion, and respect for diversity.

“As Muslims, the positions you hold in government today are not favours,” the President said.

“They are rights you are entitled to as citizens of this country, just like all other Kenyans.”

The Head of State explained that Kenya belongs to all its people and that leadership should reflect the nation’s diverse communities.

According to him, no group should feel excluded or believe they must depend on political goodwill to take part in national affairs.

Ruto also used the opportunity to call for unity among Kenyans, saying the country’s strength lies in its ability to bring together people from different cultures, religions, and regions.

He urged leaders to focus on building bridges instead of creating divisions that could weaken the nation.

The President noted that the Muslim community has made significant contributions in areas such as business, education, community development, and leadership.

He said the government values these efforts and will continue working closely with Muslim leaders to address issues affecting their communities.

During the event, several Muslim leaders welcomed the President’s remarks and said they appreciated the recognition of their role in national development.

They noted that acknowledging equal rights and opportunities helps strengthen the spirit of unity in the country.

The leaders also highlighted the importance of continued dialogue between the government and religious communities.

According to them, such discussions help address concerns affecting citizens and encourage cooperation in promoting peace and development.

Ruto further urged all leaders to respect the Constitution and ensure that public offices remain open to all qualified citizens.

He said the government’s goal is to create an environment where every Kenyan feels valued and confident that their rights are protected.

He added that when citizens believe in fairness and equal opportunity, they are more willing to contribute to national progress.

The President said this sense of belonging is essential in building a strong and stable country.
