“The page is fraudulent and does not represent the commission or its acting CEO,” the notice stated.
TSC emphasised that it communicates only through its verified and official platforms, warning that any other accounts claiming to represent the commission should be treated with suspicion.
The commission clarified that all its official communications are disseminated through its verified social media channels, including its Facebook page, “TSC Kenya,” and its X account, both of which bear a blue verification badge.
It urged the public to confirm the authenticity of any information before acting on it, especially when it relates to employment, promotions, or policy announcements affecting teachers.
The warning comes amid rising cases of impersonation on social media, where fraudsters create fake accounts to exploit the public by spreading false information or soliciting personal details.
TSC noted that such accounts not only mislead users but also undermine the credibility of official communication channels.
It called on stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious accounts to the relevant authorities.
“We urge members of the public to rely only on our official platforms for accurate and verified information,” the commission said.
The commission also reassured teachers and the general public that it remains committed to transparency and timely communication through its recognised channels.
Education stakeholders have in the past raised concerns over the misuse of social media to spread misinformation, particularly on matters affecting recruitment and deployment of teachers.
TSC’s latest advisory is seen as part of broader efforts to safeguard its communication systems and protect the public from falling victim to online fraud.
The commission further encouraged users to verify the presence of the blue verification badge when following its accounts, noting that this is a key indicator of authenticity.
As the use of social media continues to grow, institutions are increasingly facing challenges related to impersonation and misinformation.
TSC’s warning highlights the importance of digital awareness and caution when interacting with online content.
