According to the senator, events unfolded shortly after he was briefly left alone. He said his aide had stepped away to withdraw money from a nearby location when a group of men approached him.
“I had my aide with me, and it was at the time when I had sent him to withdraw some money for me, a few metres away.
That is when a group of men came to me, calling me Senator, and soon started beating me,” Osotsi said.
Osotsi alleged that the confrontation escalated further when one of the attackers drew a firearm and threatened his life.
He maintained that the threats were serious and intended to intimidate him.
The senator linked the incident to what he described as prior surveillance targeting him and other leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement.
He claimed that suspicious individuals had been monitoring their movements in the days leading up to the attack, raising concerns about their safety.
Osotsi said the experience has left him shaken but determined to continue with his political activities.
He called on security agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure those responsible are held to account.
“This was not just a random incident. There were clear signs of coordination, and I believe it was meant to send a message,” he said.
He also urged authorities to guarantee his safety and that of other leaders, warning that failure to act could embolden further attacks.
While in hospital, the senator received treatment for injuries sustained during the assault.
He expressed gratitude to medical staff for their care, noting that he was now recovering and ready to resume his duties.
