PRM leaders said the incidents have targeted rallies and meetings, particularly those associated with the United Opposition and the Linda Mwananchi, raising questions about the safety of participants and the protection of democratic space.
The officials criticised what they see as a pattern of interference, warning that such actions could undermine political freedoms and destabilise the country if left unchecked.
They emphasised that the government bears a fundamental responsibility to ensure the safety of all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations, and to guarantee that public gatherings are conducted without intimidation or violence.
“For those disrupting rallies and meetings, especially the United opposition meetings of Linda Mwananchi.
I think it is the responsibility of the government to protect its people, not to harm them, and it is clear that the hands behind these goons are becoming obvious by the day,” a party official said.
The party called on security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to address the situation, including investigating the alleged organisers of the disruptions and bringing those responsible to justice.
According to PRM, failure to act could embolden perpetrators and create an environment where political engagement is increasingly characterised by fear and disorder.
The officials also urged political leaders across the divide to uphold peaceful conduct and refrain from actions that could incite confrontation or violence during public events.
They noted that the right to assemble and express political views is protected under the Constitution and should not be curtailed through intimidation or organised disruption.
The statement comes amid growing concern over the conduct of political activities, with several recent events reportedly experiencing interruptions or clashes.
