Speaking on Friday, May 15, during a visit by students from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology at Kang'o Ka Jaramogi, Ida defended Raila’s legacy, saying his influence continues to be felt across the country despite his death seven months ago.

In an emotional address, Ida said Raila’s name remains part of daily national conversations, adding that Kenyans still frequently speak about him in political and public discussions.

“We still hear his name every day. There's no particular day I’ll switch on to listen to the news without hearing his name being mentioned,” she said.

Her remarks appeared to counter sentiments attributed to Mbadi, who recently suggested that the country should focus on moving forward rather than remaining attached to Raila’s political legacy.

Ida told the students that Raila’s impact on Kenya’s democratic journey and political development cannot easily be erased, noting that his contributions continue to resonate with many Kenyans across generations.

She also encouraged young people to learn from Raila’s life, leadership, and commitment to fighting for justice and equality in the country.

According to her, the former Prime Minister dedicated much of his life to advocating for democracy, constitutional reforms, and the rights of ordinary citizens.

During the visit, students toured Kang'o Ka Jaramogi, the historic home associated with the Odinga family and one of the country’s significant political heritage sites.

The visit formed part of efforts to educate learners about Kenya’s political history and the role played by key national figures.

Ida further noted that memories of Raila remain alive not only within the family but also among millions of supporters who continue to identify with his ideals and political vision.

Her comments come at a time when conversations surrounding Raila’s legacy continue to shape political debate in the country months after his passing.

Leaders from different political sides have continued to reference his influence in discussions about governance, opposition politics, and national unity.

Political analysts say Raila remained one of Kenya’s most influential political figures for decades, with his name still carrying significant weight in national discourse even after his death.
