Speaking during a recent political engagement, Wanga said the party is now operating fully under the leadership structure aligned with ODM, led by Senator Oburu Odinga, and no longer using the slogan that had previously been associated with grassroots mobilisation efforts.
“We have abandoned the Linda Ground slogan. We are the ODM party under Oburu Odinga.
We created a movement, but those people who did not have enough imagination went ahead and stole it, so we have left it,” Wanga stated.
Her remarks come amid ongoing internal discussions within ODM regarding political branding, messaging direction, and grassroots mobilisation strategies as the party positions itself ahead of future political activities.
The “Linda Ground” slogan had gained prominence in recent months through various party-linked engagements and grassroots tours.
It was used as part of mobilisation efforts aimed at strengthening ODM’s presence at the community level and rallying supporters around its political agenda.
However, Wanga’s statement now signals a clear departure from that approach, suggesting that the party has opted to re-evaluate and streamline its communication and mobilisation strategy under its current leadership structure.
She further emphasized that ODM remains unified under its established leadership and continues to focus on strengthening its organisational direction rather than competing over messaging styles or slogans previously used during political outreach programmes.
The governor’s comments also pointed to internal frustrations over how the slogan had been adopted and used beyond its original framework, though she maintained that the party’s decision to move away from it was deliberate and final.
Political observers note that such shifts in messaging are not uncommon in party structures, particularly as parties adjust strategies to reflect changing political dynamics and leadership priorities.
ODM, which remains one of the country’s major political parties, has in recent months been undergoing internal realignments as it refines its strategy ahead of future electoral cycles.
The changes have included adjustments in communication approaches and increased emphasis on organisational cohesion.
