Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has urged Kenyans to embrace national cohesion and support efforts by President William Ruto to move the country away from tribal-based politics.

Speaking during the burial ceremony of the mother of Nyando Member of Parliament Jared Okello in Kisumu, the PS said the government is implementing development projects across the country in a fair and balanced manner, regardless of political alignment.

Omollo highlighted ongoing infrastructure and development initiatives in the Lake Region, stating that counties in the area are receiving significant investment under the current administration.

“We are talking of projects in excess of Ksh.220 billion in Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori. For the first time, we are seeing that kind of investment.

It speaks to the leadership of President Ruto, and he is very deliberate about it. It is a story that you will get in North Eastern, at the Coast, in Central and every other place," he said.

He further emphasized that the government’s development agenda is guided by inclusivity and national unity rather than regional or political considerations.

“But most importantly, the issue of cohesion, the issue of unity. We have a President who is not just developing the region he comes from, and who is not just giving opportunities to people from his region.”

Omollo noted that equitable distribution of development projects remains a key priority for the Kenya Kwanza administration, adding that all regions are benefiting from ongoing investments in infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment programmes.

He said the government will continue pursuing policies aimed at reducing regional disparities and strengthening unity among Kenyans.

According to the PS, development should be viewed as a national effort that transcends political competition, stressing that every citizen deserves fair access to government services and opportunities.

The remarks come at a time when the government is seeking to reinforce its message of national cohesion and shared development as part of its broader political and economic agenda.

Omollo reiterated that President Ruto’s leadership approach is intentional in ensuring that development projects are not concentrated in one region but are spread across the country in line with national priorities.

He urged leaders at both national and county levels to support the cohesion agenda and avoid divisive politics that could undermine progress and unity.

The burial ceremony brought together leaders from across the political divide, who joined the family and residents in mourning and reflecting on issues of governance, development, and national unity.
