DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has raised concerns that President William Ruto is planning to take control of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after the passing of Raila Odinga.

Gachagua spoke firmly at the DCP headquarters while welcoming elected representatives from the recent by-elections.

He singled out ODM leaders Junet Mohamed and Gladys Wanga, cautioning them about the future of their party.

According to Gachagua, if they allow ODM to be “sold” or influenced by external forces, the party risks being weakened and reduced to a minority with little political influence.

He said that strong leadership and careful decision-making are critical to preserve the party’s relevance in Kenya’s political landscape.

Gachagua argued that ODM has been a major player in Kenyan politics, and losing control could have serious consequences for its supporters.

“The party cannot afford to be manipulated or taken over,” he said, adding that leaders must protect its legacy and the interests of its members.

He also used the occasion to highlight the DCP’s growing influence across the country, celebrating the victories of the party’s newly elected officials in the recent by-elections.

Gachagua emphasized that strong, independent leadership is necessary to safeguard the rights of the people and ensure fair representation in government.

Political analysts say Gachagua’s statements signal a growing tension among Kenya’s political parties as leaders prepare for the next general elections.

His comments reflect the competitive nature of the country’s political scene, where alliances and party loyalty can change quickly.

The DCP leader’s warning comes at a time when Kenyan politics is facing shifts following the health concerns of senior leaders, prompting debates about succession, party ownership, and political influence.
