The High Court has summoned Inspector General of Police Hillary Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Amin to appear in court on December 16.

They are required to explain the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of security analyst Mwenda Mbijiwe, who went missing in June 2021.

Mwenda Mbijiwe, a well-known security expert, has been unaccounted for for over four years.

His family, colleagues, and the public have repeatedly demanded answers regarding his sudden disappearance.

The case has drawn widespread attention, raising concerns about safety and accountability within security agencies.

In the court notice, judges requested that IG Kanja and DCI Amin provide detailed information on the steps taken by police and investigative officers to trace Mbijiwe.

The court also seeks clarity on whether proper procedures were followed in handling reports related to his disappearance.

Mbijiwe’s family expressed relief over the court’s decision, saying it was a critical step toward uncovering the truth.

They stressed the need for transparency and accountability, urging the authorities to provide a full account of their actions since June 2021.

Human rights organizations have also weighed in, highlighting that missing persons’ cases must be treated with urgency.

They say families deserve closure and that officials must be held accountable if negligence or misconduct contributed to the prolonged uncertainty.

Legal experts note that the court’s summons signals growing judicial interest in holding high-ranking security officials responsible for unresolved cases.

They emphasize that IG Kanja and DCI Amin must provide clear and credible explanations or risk facing further legal consequences.
