Renowned media personality Caroline Mutoko has spoken about the recent political events in the country, calling on young Kenyans to take voter registration seriously following the highly attended rally held in Kitengela.

In a statement shared through her official page on Facebook on Monday, February 16, 2026, Mutoko addressed the excitement that has been building among young people, especially supporters of Edwin Sifuna.

She warned that political excitement alone will not bring change if young citizens fail to register as voters and participate in elections.

Mutoko pointed out that while political rallies often create strong emotions and unity among supporters, real change in leadership and governance can only happen through voting.

She stressed that registration is the first and most important step for young people who want to influence the country’s future.

According to her, cheering leaders at rallies and supporting them online is not enough to guarantee progress.

She explained that the large turnout witnessed at the Kitengela rally clearly showed that many young Kenyans are interested in political matters and want to be part of the country’s leadership journey.

However, she warned that such enthusiasm could easily lose meaning if it does not translate into actual participation during elections.

Mutoko said that history has shown that political excitement often fades when young people fail to show up during voter registration and voting periods.

The media personality also reminded young citizens that elections provide the most powerful platform for shaping the country’s leadership.

She said that registering as voters gives young people a direct voice in choosing leaders who represent their interests.

Without registration, she noted, young people risk allowing others to make decisions on their behalf.

Mutoko further warned that failure by the youth to register and vote could see all the support and loyalty they show towards political leaders fail to produce real change.

She added that political leaders rely heavily on voter turnout to gain power, and if young people do not take part in elections, their preferred leaders may not succeed regardless of the support they receive at public gatherings.

Her remarks have sparked discussion across social media, with many Kenyans agreeing with her call for youth participation in elections.

Some users praised her for encouraging civic responsibility among young citizens, while others urged political leaders to also focus on addressing issues that affect young people, such as unemployment and education opportunities.
