According to police, the suspect is now in custody and is expected to be formally charged in court soon. The incident has shocked residents and raised serious concerns about patient safety in healthcare facilities.

Police reports indicate that the alleged assault took place while the victim was receiving standard medical care.

Authorities say the suspect, a clinical officer employed at the health center, allegedly took advantage of the situation to commit the crime.

Law enforcement officers acted swiftly after receiving a complaint from the victim and launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the healthcare worker.

“The suspect has been arrested and will be arraigned in court in the coming days,” a police statement read.

Officers have assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure justice is served.

Community members have expressed shock and anger at the alleged act, noting that medical facilities are meant to be safe spaces where people seek care and support.

Local leaders have called for stricter oversight of healthcare workers and measures to protect patients, especially women who may be vulnerable during medical consultations.

Experts in healthcare and gender-based violence have also weighed in, emphasizing the need for proper reporting mechanisms in hospitals and health centers.

They say incidents like this highlight the importance of screening and monitoring staff to prevent abuse and protect patients.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld for safety reasons, has reportedly received support from local authorities and counselling services to help her cope with the trauma.

Police have urged anyone with additional information about the suspect or similar incidents to come forward to aid the investigation.

Bomet County officials condemned the alleged crime, reiterating their commitment to patient safety and zero tolerance for abuse in health facilities.

They assured the public that measures would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future and that healthcare workers found guilty of misconduct will face strict disciplinary action, including termination and legal prosecution.

The case has sparked wider discussions across the country about accountability in the healthcare sector and the need to create safe, respectful environments for patients.

Civil society groups have also called for tougher penalties for medical personnel who exploit their position to commit crimes, stressing that public trust in health services must be protected at all costs.
