She said leaders who spread hate or create divisions between communities weaken the country and slow down development.
According to her, Kenya needs politics that brings people together rather than separating them along ethnic lines.
During her speech, Wanga firmly stated in Kiswahili that some politicians will not be considered for negotiations.
She explained that leaders who claim that certain communities are more important than others cannot be trusted to lead a united nation.
She added that ODM believes every Kenyan, regardless of tribe, deserves equal respect and opportunity.
While taking a strong stand against divisive politics, Wanga also expressed willingness to engage in discussions with President William Ruto.
She said ODM is ready to hold talks that can promote national unity and stability, provided that such discussions focus on shared goals and policies that benefit the country.
Wanga explained that political coalitions should not be formed simply to win elections but should be built on strong ideas that address the challenges facing citizens.
She said ODM will prioritize partnerships that focus on improving the economy, creating jobs, and strengthening social services such as healthcare and education.
The governor further warned that tribal politics has historically caused tension in the country and sometimes led to conflict among communities.
She said political leaders must learn from past experiences and avoid repeating mistakes that have previously divided Kenyans.
According to Wanga, unity is necessary for the country to achieve lasting development and peace.
Several ODM supporters who attended the event welcomed Wanga’s remarks, saying they reflected the party’s commitment to national cohesion.
They argued that many Kenyans are tired of politics based on ethnicity and want leaders who focus on solving economic and social challenges.
Political analysts have noted that Wanga’s statement signals early political positioning as parties begin preparing for the 2027 elections.
They say ODM appears to be setting clear conditions for possible alliances, emphasizing values such as inclusivity and issue-based leadership.
