National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) is intensifying its fight against drug-related crimes in Kenya, targeting drug lords, their associates, and financiers, the agency’s CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa has revealed.

Speaking during a recent press briefing, Dr. Omerikwa outlined the authority’s renewed approach to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring that offenders face serious consequences.

According to Dr. Omerikwa, NACADA’s operations are not limited to identifying and arresting individuals involved in drug trafficking. The agency is also aggressively pursuing the financial structures that support these criminal enterprises.

This includes tracing the sources of funding, uncovering hidden assets, and ensuring that any property acquired through illegal activities is seized and forfeited to the state.
“NACADA is closing in on drug lords, their associates, and their financiers.

This pursuit, which is also coupled with aggressive asset seizure and forfeiture to the state, will continue in earnest to ensure maximum pain is inflicted on these criminal enterprises,” Dr. Omerikwa stated.

He explained that this multi-pronged approach is intended to weaken the operations of drug networks at every level.

By targeting both the people involved and the money that fuels their operations, NACADA hopes to dismantle criminal structures that have persisted for years.

The CEO noted that financial disruption is a key tool in the fight against organized drug crime, as it limits the capacity of offenders to continue trafficking and distributing illegal substances.

Dr. Omerikwa also emphasized that NACADA works in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, and other government bodies to track illegal funds and ensure that criminals cannot hide their assets.

He said this cooperative strategy is crucial in curbing the influence of drug networks and sending a clear message that no one is beyond the reach of the law.

The NACADA CEO further warned that those found supplying or financing drugs will face not only arrest but also the confiscation of their ill-gotten wealth.

He said that asset forfeiture has become an essential part of the authority’s operations, as it disrupts the incentive for engaging in illegal drug trade.

“Every effort will be made to ensure that individuals profiting from drugs face the full force of the law.

We are committed to protecting communities from the devastating effects of drug abuse while dismantling the networks that perpetuate it,” Dr. Omerikwa added.
