“We are going to negotiate on policies, development programmes and the sharing of positions, which includes the sharing of power,” he told the audience.
Oburu made it clear that the party’s priority is not forming temporary alliances for political gain, but creating practical agreements that benefit citizens and strengthen governance.
According to Oburu, ODM has always been a platform for inclusive decision-making.
He noted that members are encouraged to contribute ideas and challenge proposals openly, as long as it is done respectfully and within party structures.
“Our party is not about silencing voices. It is about engaging in meaningful discussions that lead to real solutions for our people,” he said.
The ODM leader also addressed concerns from members who feel marginalized or unsure about their role in the party’s next moves.
He assured them that the upcoming negotiations will be transparent, and every member will have an opportunity to participate in shaping policies and leadership decisions.
Oburu’s speech highlighted that the party is preparing for talks that involve key decisions on governance and power-sharing at both national and county levels.
“These discussions are not about personal positions or temporary alliances.
They are about how we govern effectively, deliver development programmes, and share leadership responsibilities in a fair way,” he emphasized.
Supporters at the rally applauded Oburu’s stance, expressing relief that ODM is focusing on policy-driven discussions rather than internal conflict.
Many noted that his message reinforced the importance of staying united while being free to express concerns without fear of reprisal.
