Group of respected Bukusu elders has expressed strong support for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and has formally invited him to attend a traditional ceremony where he will receive blessings from the community.

The elders said their decision to back the senator is based on his leadership, courage in speaking on national issues, and his commitment to serving the people.

The Bukusu elders, who are considered important custodians of culture and tradition within the community, said they believe Sifuna represents a new generation of leaders who are ready to stand firm and defend the interests of Kenyans.

Speaking during a community gathering in Bungoma County, several elders noted that the senator has shown strong leadership both in Parliament and in public debates on national matters.

According to the elders, inviting Sifuna for traditional blessings is meant to recognize his leadership and encourage him to continue serving the country with dedication and honesty.

They explained that in Bukusu culture, elders play an important role in guiding leaders by offering prayers, advice, and blessings to help them succeed in their responsibilities.

The elders said that the ceremony will involve traditional rituals meant to symbolically wish the senator wisdom, strength, and protection as he continues with his political journey.

Such blessings, they noted, are an important part of the community’s way of supporting individuals who are seen as promising leaders.

During the meeting, the elders also encouraged political leaders from the region to remain united and work together for the development of their communities.

They stressed that leadership should focus on improving the lives of ordinary citizens rather than creating divisions among people.

Many community members who attended the gathering welcomed the elders’ decision, saying that Sifuna has been vocal on many national issues affecting Kenyans.

They pointed out that his willingness to speak openly on matters of governance has earned him respect among many young people and political observers.

The elders also said the planned ceremony will give the community an opportunity to interact directly with the senator and share their expectations with him.

They believe such engagements help leaders remain connected to the people they serve.

For generations, the Bukusu community has maintained a strong tradition of elders guiding leaders through cultural teachings and blessings.

These traditions are seen as a way of strengthening unity and ensuring that leaders remain accountable to the people.
