Gachagua noted that the meeting brought together the Chairperson of the National Election Board, senior party officials, and all interested aspirants.
The discussions, he said, focused on reviewing the nomination plan and ensuring transparency and fairness in the exercise before the party primaries set for May 9, 2026.
“This morning, I met with aspirants seeking to fly the DCP PARTY flag in the upcoming Olkalou by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026.
Together with the Chairperson of the National Election Board and other senior party officials, we have reviewed and affirmed the process that will guide the party nominations set for May 9, 2026,” Gachagua said.
He emphasized that the party is committed to a democratic nomination process, where voters will play a central role in determining who will carry the party’s flag.
According to him, this approach is aimed at strengthening internal party democracy and building public confidence in the electoral process.
The former Deputy President reiterated that DCP would not entertain any form of consensus arrangements or negotiated settlements that sideline the will of party members.
He said the decision reflects the party’s broader commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive participation.
Gachagua’s remarks come as political parties begin preparations for the Ol Kalou by-election, with various aspirants positioning themselves to secure party tickets ahead of the polls.
The by-election is expected to attract significant attention, given its political implications and the growing competition among parties seeking to expand their influence.
