Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has issued a strong warning against criminal gangs and political violence, affirming that the government will take firm action against individuals involved in acts of “goonism” across the country.

Speaking amid growing concern over rising cases of organised violence linked to political activities, Omollo said the government will not tolerate lawlessness in any form.

He emphasised that security agencies have been directed to act decisively against those found engaging in or facilitating such activities.

The Principal Secretary noted that criminal gangs operating under the guise of political mobilisation pose a serious threat to public safety and national stability.

He warned that individuals who recruit, fund, or coordinate such groups will be held accountable under the law.

Omollo stressed that the government remains committed to upholding peace and order, particularly as political activities continue to intensify in various parts of the country.

He said no one will be allowed to disrupt normal life or intimidate citizens through violence.

“Those engaging in goonism must know that the law will catch up with them. We will not allow criminal elements to take advantage of political spaces to cause chaos and insecurity,” he said.

He further cautioned political leaders against sponsoring or associating with violent groups, urging them to conduct their activities within the confines of the law.

According to Omollo, leadership carries a responsibility to promote peace and unity rather than division and unrest.

The PS also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

He noted that community cooperation is essential in identifying and addressing threats before they escalate into widespread insecurity.

Omollo highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations, including increased surveillance and coordination among law enforcement agencies.

He said these measures are aimed at preventing incidents of violence and ensuring that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.

He reiterated that the rule of law must prevail at all times, adding that the government will not hesitate to take action against anyone who undermines peace.

He emphasised that maintaining stability is critical for economic growth and the well-being of citizens.
