Police officers from Obama Police Station in Kayole Sub-County have recovered stolen items during a routine early morning patrol in the Mwengenye Saika area.

The officers, who were on patrol, spotted two individuals carrying luggage in a suspicious manner along the Dandora Bridge.

Upon noticing the officers, the suspects abandoned the items and fled the scene, disappearing before they could be apprehended.

The officers secured the items and conducted a preliminary search, which revealed assorted household goods and electronic equipment.

Among the recovered items was a metal bar suspected to have been used to facilitate a break-in.

According to police, the discovery prompted immediate inquiries to establish the origin of the items.

Preliminary investigations later confirmed that the goods had been stolen from Full Gospel Mission Church located in the Mowlem Powerline area.

Investigators believe the suspects may have broken into the church during the night before attempting to transport the stolen property in the early hours of the morning.

The manner in which the items were packed and carried raised suspicion, leading to their recovery before they could be moved further.

Residents in the area have in recent months raised concerns over isolated cases of theft, particularly targeting institutions and residential premises during late-night hours.

The latest incident has once again highlighted the role of routine patrols in deterring crime and aiding swift recovery of stolen property.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspects who fled the scene. Officers are following leads that could help identify and apprehend those involved in the break-in.

Authorities have also indicated that forensic analysis may be conducted on some of the recovered items to gather additional evidence.

The recovered property has been secured as exhibits, pending further investigations and identification by the affected institution.

Church officials are expected to record statements and assist police in confirming ownership of the items.
