Engineer Bob Ariemba has been appointed to head the Acting Works department, marking a key change in the county’s infrastructure leadership.
The reshuffle also saw Dr Irene Muchoki moved from the Medical Services department to Gender and Inclusivity.
In a corresponding change, Mariam Dubow Dahir was reassigned from Gender and Inclusivity to Medical Services, effectively swapping roles with Dr Muchoki.
The changes affect key departments within the county government, including mobility, lands, ICT infrastructure, medical services, gender, and works, which are central to service delivery in the capital.
Governor Sakaja said the reassignments are aimed at strengthening operations and enhancing efficiency across departments.
The move comes at a time when the county administration has been under pressure to address service delivery challenges, particularly in critical sectors such as health, infrastructure, and urban planning.
By shifting the officers, the governor appears to be seeking a better alignment of skills and experience within his team to meet the county’s priorities.
The reassignment of officers across departments suggests a strategic effort to inject fresh leadership perspectives and improve coordination in service delivery.
Dr Waikenda’s transfer to the Lands and Acting Mobility docket places him at the centre of key urban planning and transport functions, which are critical in managing Nairobi’s growth and addressing congestion challenges.
Meanwhile, Koigu’s move to ICT Infrastructure signals a continued focus on digitisation and the strengthening of technological systems within the county.
The appointment of Engineer Ariemba to the Acting Works department is expected to play a role in overseeing infrastructure projects, including roadworks and maintenance, which remain a major concern for residents.
