Group of young people is set to take to the streets of Nairobi on Thursday in a procession aimed at showing support for President William Ruto’s development agenda.

Organisers have described the procession as a “celebration of progress” made over the past three years, saying it will highlight achievements under the current administration.

The youth plan to march through the Central Business District to Harambee House, the Office of the President, in a show of support for the government’s programmes and policies.

They say the procession is intended to showcase what they term as the administration’s scorecard while also rallying support for a possible second term for the Head of State.

According to the organisers, the march will bring together young people from different parts of the country who believe the government has made significant strides in key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, and economic empowerment.

Speaking ahead of the procession, Samuel Tentemo from Kajiado County said the initiative was driven by what he described as visible transformation across the country, particularly in rural areas.

“The President has achieved a lot in the first three years, and those saying otherwise just want to mislead Kenyans for their own interests,” Tentemo said.

He added that many young people have directly benefited from government programmes, citing improvements in access to services and opportunities aimed at enhancing livelihoods.

The organisers said the procession would be peaceful and orderly, with participants expected to adhere to the law and cooperate with security agencies.

They emphasised that the event is not meant to provoke confrontation but to express support for the government’s development agenda.

They further noted that the march would provide an opportunity for young people to voice their views and demonstrate their confidence in the leadership of President Ruto.

The planned procession comes at a time when political activity in the country is gradually gaining momentum, with various groups mobilising support around different agendas.

Observers say such demonstrations reflect the growing engagement of youth in national conversations, particularly on matters of governance and development.

However, the organisers insisted that their focus remains on highlighting achievements and encouraging continuity in leadership, rather than engaging in political confrontation.

They also called on other young people to participate in the march, saying it offers a platform to celebrate progress and support ongoing initiatives.

As the procession moves through key streets in the city centre, attention is expected to focus on how it unfolds and the message it conveys regarding public sentiment on the government’s performance.
