The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday during the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner held at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC.
“I've been asked about that. I guess it's something you consider,” Trump said. “In one way, you don't like to do it because you're giving in to a bad element. And so, I don't know. But I have been asked about it.”
Authorities have since charged a man in connection with the alleged assassination attempt during the high-profile gala.
Security officials said the suspect was subdued by Secret Service agents before he could gain access to the ballroom where the event was taking place.
The swift intervention by the agents prevented what could have been a serious security breach at one of Washington’s most prominent annual gatherings, which typically attracts top political leaders, journalists, and public figures.

Security experts have in the past noted that protective gear, including bullet-resistant clothing, is sometimes used discreetly by high-profile leaders facing credible threats.
