Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has ordered the eviction of hundreds of tenants from Elite Court on Ole Dume Road in Kilimani as part of an ongoing operation to reclaim riparian land.

The directive is part of a broader enforcement effort by the Nairobi County Government aimed at restoring and protecting waterways that have been encroached endorsement, alleging that the party had already settled on another candidate for the position.

He criticised Wiper’s internal processes, describing the party as one controlled by a small circle of insiders who, he said, have consistently sidelined other leaders.

According to Waita, such an approach undermines fairness and denies qualified aspirants a chance to compete.

Waita further argued that the decision not to grant him the ticket reflects broader issues within the party’s leadership structure.

He suggested that the process lacks transparency and openness, raising concerns about how candidates are selected ahead of key elections.

In contrast, he expressed support for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), stating that it remains focused on delivering development directly to ordinary citizens.

He indicated that his political direction could align with parties that prioritise inclusivity and tangible results for the electorate.

The former State House official also issued a warning to Patrick Makau, the Mavoko MP who has also declared interest in the Machakos gubernatorial seat.

Waita cautioned Makau against assuming that he would automatically secure the Wiper ticket, citing his own experience as evidence that the decision may have already been predetermined.

His remarks point to growing tensions within Wiper as the race for the Machakos governorship begins to take shape.

The dispute highlights the challenges political parties face in managing internal competition while maintaining unity ahead of general elections.

Waita’s claims are likely to spark debate within the party and among its supporters, particularly in Machakos County, where the gubernatorial contest is expected to attract significant attention.

The allegations also raise questions about how parties balance loyalty, experience and grassroots support when selecting candidates.

As the 2027 General Election approaches, political alignments continue to shift, with aspirants positioning themselves within parties they believe will offer the best platform for their ambitions.

Waita’s sentiments reflect a broader trend of leaders reassessing their options in response to internal party dynamics.
