Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, met with senior European diplomats in Nairobi during an afternoon engagement that highlighted ongoing diplomatic relations between Kenya and its international partners.

In a brief statement, Sifuna shared that he was hosting a lunch meeting with Henriette Geiger, the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Kenya, and Sebastian Groth.

“Happening… lunch with H.E. Ambassador Henriette Geiger, Head of Delegation for the European Union to Kenya and H.E Ambassador Sebastian Groth of Germany this afternoon,” Sifuna said.

Although the senator did not provide details on the agenda of the meeting, such engagements are commonly associated with discussions on governance, economic cooperation, and development partnerships.

The European Union and Germany are among Kenya’s key partners, supporting a wide range of programmes across various sectors.

The meeting comes at a time when political and diplomatic interactions continue to play an important role in shaping Kenya’s engagement with the international community.

Leaders often use such forums to exchange views on national priorities, regional stability, and areas of mutual interest.

As Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement and a serving senator, Sifuna remains an influential figure in Kenya’s political landscape.

His interaction with foreign envoys reflects a broader trend of political leaders maintaining active dialogue with international stakeholders.

Ambassador Geiger, who heads the European Union delegation in Kenya, oversees the EU’s diplomatic relations and development initiatives in the country.

The EU has been involved in supporting programmes in governance, infrastructure, education, and climate action, among others.

On the other hand, Ambassador Groth represents Germany’s interests in Kenya, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, economic development, and technical training.

Germany has maintained longstanding ties with Kenya, contributing to various development initiatives over the years.
