In its latest Agrometeorological Dekadal Bulletin, the agency notes that rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the South Rift Valley.
These areas are among the country’s key agricultural zones, where farming activities are highly dependent on seasonal weather patterns.
“Farmers should take advantage of the expected rainfall to support crop growth and pasture establishment,” the advisory stated.
KMSA further indicated that parts of the Southeastern Lowlands and Northeastern Kenya, including counties such as Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, and Kajiado, are also expected to receive useful rainfall.
Farmers in these areas have been encouraged to utilise the wet conditions to tend to crops and prepare their land for continued agricultural activities.
According to the weather agency, the ongoing rains are expected to help maintain and improve soil moisture levels in the affected regions.
This, in turn, will support crop development, enhance pasture regeneration, and improve land preparation efforts for farmers engaged in both small-scale and large-scale farming.
The bulletin adds that many agricultural regions across the country are currently experiencing favourable crop performance, largely supported by the sustained rainfall recorded in recent weeks.
The conditions have helped improve growth stages for various crops while also benefiting livestock farmers through improved pasture availability.
Despite the positive outlook, KMSA continues to urge farmers to remain alert to weather updates and make informed decisions based on local conditions.
The agency notes that while rainfall is beneficial, its distribution and intensity may vary from one region to another, which can affect farming outcomes.
Farmers are therefore encouraged to plan their activities carefully, including planting, weeding, and fertilizer application, in line with local forecasts to maximise productivity.
Agricultural extension officers in various counties have also been advised to continue working closely with farmers to ensure timely dissemination of weather information and best farming practices during the rainy season.
The advisory comes at a crucial time for the agricultural sector, as many farmers prepare for key planting and cultivation activities that will determine food production outcomes in the coming months.
KMSA says it will continue monitoring weather patterns and issuing regular updates to guide farmers and other stakeholders in making informed agricultural decisions throughout the season.
