A video showing Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament Anthony Kibagendi greeting various leaders but appearing to skip Kisii County Woman Representative Donya Dorice has continued to generate public debate online for the past two days.

The footage, which has been widely shared, shows Kibagendi engaging cordially with several leaders during a public event before seemingly avoiding a handshake with Donya Dorice, raising questions about the nature of their relationship.

The incident has sparked speculation among political observers and residents, with many questioning why the two leaders, who represent the same region, appear to be at odds.

The video has since drawn attention to what some describe as a growing political rift between them.

Kibagendi and Japheth Nyakundi, another local leader, have also been reported to have differences.

However, in contrast, the two were seen exchanging greetings and shaking hands during the same public interactions, further fueling curiosity over Kibagendi’s apparent avoidance of Donya Dorice.

According to information gathered by GDN investigators, the tension between Kibagendi and Donya Dorice is believed to date back to 13 April 2026 during President William Ruto’s visit to the Gusii region, particularly at Nyakoe Market.

During the President’s visit, Donya Dorice addressed the gathering and publicly thanked President Ruto for the market development project.

She then used the platform to raise additional concerns affecting residents, calling for the drilling of a borehole to address water shortages in the area.

In her remarks, she also directed criticism at the area MP, Anthony Kibagendi, accusing him of prioritizing personal interests over development needs.

She claimed that the MP had “chosen the gym over development and water projects,” a statement that drew mixed reactions from the crowd at the time.

Donya further emphasized that residents were being forced to make difficult choices between essential services and other priorities, insisting that access to water should not be compromised.

She reinforced her message with remarks that included phrases such as “Ruto over gym” and “Tutam over gym,” which were widely circulated on social media following the event.
