Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged the government to prioritize resolving the ongoing fuel crisis, warning that political wrangles and divisions will not ease the suffering currently facing Kenyans.

Speaking amid growing concern over fuel shortages reported in several parts of the country, Uhuru appeared to call on President William Ruto and national leaders to focus on practical solutions instead of political confrontation.

“Address the fuel crisis. Malumbano na chuki haitusaidii. Wakenya hawatakula maneno,” Uhuru said.

His remarks come at a time when motorists, transport operators, and businesses across parts of the country continue to face challenges linked to fuel supply disruptions.

In recent days, long queues have been witnessed at petrol stations in some towns, while concerns over rising transport and commodity costs have continued to dominate public debate.

The former president’s statement quickly attracted attention online, with many Kenyans interpreting it as a direct appeal to the current administration to shift focus toward pressing economic concerns affecting ordinary citizens.

Uhuru’s comments also reflect growing anxiety over the broader economic impact of the fuel situation, which has affected transportation, business operations, and the movement of goods in different regions.

Public service vehicle operators and boda boda riders have been among those raising concerns over inconsistent fuel availability and fluctuating pump prices.

While the former Head of State did not directly delve into the causes of the shortage, his remarks emphasized the need for leaders to lower political tensions and prioritize service delivery.

The statement, delivered partly in Kiswahili, underscored frustration among many citizens struggling with the high cost of living and economic uncertainty.

By saying “Wakenya hawatakula maneno,” Uhuru stressed that public statements and political exchanges alone would not solve the real challenges facing citizens.

The comments have since sparked varied political reactions, with supporters praising the former president for speaking out on issues affecting ordinary Kenyans, while others viewed the remarks through the lens of the country’s evolving political landscape.

The government has in recent days maintained that efforts are underway to stabilize fuel supply and address concerns raised by consumers and businesses.

Treasury and Energy sector officials have also defended measures being implemented to manage the situation and maintain supply chains.
