She said the two were introduced in 2015 through her gynaecologist, after which their association gradually developed into a close personal and business relationship.
In her statement, Wangare indicated that their connection lasted for more than a decade, particularly after the death of her husband.
Investigators are now examining the nature of that relationship as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Detectives say that on the day Dr Obwaka was last seen alive, he initiated contact and made arrangements to meet Wangare in Kitengela.
She told investigators that at around 10:42 am, the doctor called her while travelling and informed her that he was on his way to see her.
Wangare further stated that Dr Obwaka remained in communication during his journey, updating her on his progress.
He reportedly confirmed that he had arrived in the Kitengela area, specifically at Quickmart within OBC Plaza, at approximately 1:20 pm before proceeding to her residence.
At her home, Wangare said the two shared a meal consisting of rice and meat. She added that after the meal, the doctor requested water, which she provided.
According to her recorded statement, events took a sudden turn shortly after he drank the water.
Wangare told detectives that Dr Obwaka began to feel unwell, appearing drowsy and experiencing difficulty breathing before collapsing.
Efforts were then made to rush him to hospital. However, medical personnel reportedly confirmed that he had no signs of life upon arrival.
The account now forms a key part of the ongoing investigation, as authorities work to establish the exact cause of death and reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
Investigators are expected to rely on multiple lines of inquiry, including witness statements, medical reports and forensic analysis, to determine what may have led to the sudden deterioration of the doctor’s condition.
The case has attracted significant public attention, given Dr Obwaka’s standing in the medical field and the circumstances under which he died.
