Harrison Mumia, the chairperson of the Atheist Society of Kenya, has asked the court to summon President William Ruto to record a statement in a case involving a fake image.

The request comes as part of ongoing legal action linked to a matter that has attracted public attention and sparked debate.

Mumia made the application while he remains in detention, as he seeks a review of the bail conditions set by the court.

The court had previously set bail terms of Sh1 million, which Mumia says are too harsh and unfair given his situation.

He has now filed an application asking the court to reconsider and possibly reduce the bail amount or adjust the terms.

In his petition, Mumia argued that President Ruto’s statement is important to the case.

He wants the court to summon the President so that he can give his version of events and help clarify the matter.

Mumia’s legal team said that the President’s testimony would help establish the truth and support a fair outcome.

The case revolves around an alleged fake image, and Mumia maintains that the matter is being handled in a way that could harm his reputation.

He has asked the court to ensure that the legal process is fair and that all relevant evidence is considered.

Mumia’s request has raised questions about whether it is appropriate to involve the President in such a case.

Some legal experts say that summoning a sitting president is rare and would only happen if the court finds it necessary for the administration of justice.

Others argue that the court should only call the President if there is clear evidence that his testimony is essential.

Meanwhile, Mumia remains in custody as the court considers his application to review the bail conditions.

His supporters say the Sh1 million bail is too high and may be intended to punish him rather than ensure he appears in court.

They argue that Mumia is willing to cooperate with the legal process and should be granted more reasonable terms.
