Families of the two people believed to be trapped in the collapsed building in South C, Nairobi, have confirmed their identities and appealed to the government to speed up search and rescue operations.

The building, which collapsed in the early hours, has left residents and relatives anxious as rescue teams continue working under challenging conditions.

According to relatives, the trapped individuals are known locally and their families have been in close contact with rescue officials since the incident occurred.

They expressed growing concern over the slow pace of operations, emphasizing the need for urgent action to save lives.

The families described the emotional toll of waiting for news, saying that every hour feels critical.

They called on authorities to ensure that professional rescue teams with the right equipment are deployed immediately to prevent further casualties.

“We know our loved ones are still inside. We are pleading with the government and rescue teams to intensify the search. Time is very critical, and we cannot afford delays,” one family member said.

Authorities have confirmed that only two people are believed to be trapped following a review of CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts.

Despite earlier confusion about the number of individuals inside, rescue operations have focused on locating and safely retrieving these two victims.

The collapse has raised questions about building safety and adherence to construction standards in Nairobi.

While rescue teams work tirelessly, families have urged the government to also consider preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future.

Rescue efforts involve coordination between the National Disaster Operation Centre, Nairobi County officials, and emergency response units.

Heavy machinery and specialized personnel are being used to carefully remove debris without endangering the lives of the trapped victims.
