United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has launched a sharp attack on the United Opposition, describing it as dull, bitter, and driven by revenge rather than clear ideas for the country.

At the same time, she strongly reaffirmed her loyalty to President William Ruto, saying her support for him remains firm under all circumstances.

In a Facebook post shared on January 31, Nyamu said the current opposition does not inspire confidence or hope.

According to her, the group appears united not by a shared vision for Kenya, but by anger and resentment toward the government.

“The opposition today is so uninspiring. All these guys have only one thing in common. United by bitterness and vengeance,” Nyamu wrote.

She went on to mention several opposition figures, giving mixed views about them while maintaining that negativity is what dominates their politics.

Nyamu said Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka appears calm but questioned his effectiveness, while acknowledging that former Justice Minister Martha Karua was once her role model while growing up.

She also described former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as a skilled politician and said former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala is strong when it comes to public speaking.

Despite these remarks, Nyamu insisted that the overall direction of the opposition is wrong.

She said personal anger and past political grudges seem to be driving their agenda instead of ideas meant to uplift ordinary Kenyans.

The outspoken senator used the opportunity to clearly state where she stands politically. She said her support for President William Ruto is based on principle, not convenience or party pressure.

Nyamu added that even in a situation where her party, UDA, were to abandon her, she would still stand with the President.

“I’m telling you even if I ever made a mistake and my party, UDA, showed me the door, you’d still see me supporting President William Ruto and you’d probably think I’m crazy,” she wrote. “But I would never give bitterness space and join these.”

Nyamu said she believes bitterness can cloud judgment and lead leaders to make poor decisions.

In her view, politics should be about service, development, and offering solutions, not settling scores or expressing anger.
