Kasmuel McOure has strongly defended the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party constitution, saying it is clear and leaves no room for confusion about the party’s leadership and presidential candidate.

He stated that Dr Oburu Oginga is not introducing new ideas but is simply restating what is already written in the party’s constitution.

According to McOure, the ODM constitution clearly outlines the party’s structures and leadership positions, including the role of the presidential candidate.

He said Dr Oburu Oginga, as the party leader, is the rightful presidential candidate, and this fact should not be politicised or twisted to suit personal interests.

McOure questioned why the Secretary General has failed to clarify these basic facts to party members and the public.

He said it is the duty of the Secretary General to protect the party constitution and explain its provisions honestly, especially at a time when ODM members are seeking unity and direction.

Instead, McOure accused the Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, of being distracted and more focused on pleasing ODM critics and political opponents.

He claimed that rather than standing firm on party principles, Sifuna is engaging in activities that weaken the party from within.

McOure further alleged that Sifuna’s camp is already preparing to launch a new political vehicle in March, a move he said explains the ongoing confusion and mixed signals coming from the party leadership.

According to him, such actions show a lack of commitment to ODM and disrespect to its loyal supporters.

He warned that internal divisions and unclear messaging could harm the party’s chances in future elections if not addressed early.

McOure urged ODM leaders to put the interests of the party first and stop engaging in power games that only benefit a few individuals.
