The Kisii Youth Caucus has publicly declared its support for the presidential ambitions of former Deputy Chief of Staff Eliud Owalo, saying he has the vision and experience needed to address challenges facing young people across the country.

The group said its decision was driven by a belief that the youth need leadership that understands their struggles and is ready to act.

Speaking during a meeting in Kisii, members of the caucus said Owalo has consistently shown interest in youth issues, both in public service and in his engagement with young people.

They described him as a leader who listens, plans carefully, and focuses on long-term solutions rather than empty promises.

The youth leaders said unemployment remains the biggest problem affecting young people, especially graduates who struggle to find jobs despite having skills and education.

They believe Owalo’s background in government administration and policy planning places him in a strong position to create practical programs that can open up job opportunities.

According to the caucus, many young people feel left out of national decision-making, even though they form the largest segment of the population.

They said Owalo understands this frustration and has spoken openly about the need to involve the youth in leadership, entrepreneurship, and economic planning.

The group also highlighted rising costs of living, limited access to affordable loans, and lack of support for small businesses as key issues hurting young people.

They expressed confidence that Owalo would push for policies that support innovation, digital jobs, and youth-led enterprises if given the chance to lead the country.

Members of the caucus said their support is not based on ethnicity or regional politics, but on what they described as Owalo’s ability to think nationally.

They said Kenya needs a leader who can unite the country and focus on development rather than constant political battles.

While Owalo has not officially launched his presidential campaign, the Kisii Youth Caucus said early support is important in shaping the national conversation.

They urged other youth groups across the country to organize, speak out, and support leaders who prioritize their needs.
