He made the remarks during an interview with several Western Kenya media stations on Friday, January 30, 2025.
Mudavadi said his advice comes from personal experience after recently folding his Amani National Congress (ANC) party and joining UDA, the ruling party.
According to him, the move helped him align more closely with the national government and play a stronger role in shaping policy and development.
He explained that Kenya’s political environment is changing and that parties with a narrow regional base may struggle to compete in future elections.
In his view, UDA stands out as the only party with a truly national outlook, bringing together leaders and supporters from all parts of the country.
Mudavadi argued that this broad base gives UDA an advantage not just in elections, but also in governing effectively.
However, Mudavadi was careful to note that the final decision lies with Wetang’ula.
He said dissolving Ford Kenya is a personal and political choice that only the Speaker can make.
Even so, he maintained that joining UDA would offer Wetang’ula a stronger platform and greater influence in national politics.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary added that if Wetang’ula chooses not to take this path, political realities ahead of the 2027 and even the 2032 elections will still shape outcomes in ways leaders cannot fully control.
He suggested that shifting alliances and voter expectations could force changes, whether parties are ready or not.
